NYPL Obscurities: Death Index
The New York Public Library is home to the Irma and Paul Milstein Division of United States History, Local History and Genealogy. The Milstein Division has hundreds of books and images from the past, and the Birth and Death Index. This short book explores the subject of death in 1800's New York City, with a cemetery guide of the boroughs, cemetery symbolism, and the highest death causes and epidemics. Including images from the NYPL archives and records and photos taken at Brooklyn's Green-Wood Cemetery by myself.
